What is MINDFULNESS?
Mindfulness is meditation. It is the key part of Buddhism and Hindu writings and has been around for centuries; but somewhere along the line the concepts underlying mindfulness gradually moved into Western culture.
During the 1990’s I taught mindfulness as part of a stress management strategy, and as part of my meditation sessions in the wider community. The practices were very helpful in improving the mind, well-being and benefiting the self-actualisation of the person.
Mindfulness helps you to live in the moment and experience that moment. Helping you to have quality time with yourself CARPE DIEM – Seize the day, being fully engaged with what you are doing right now, whether it’s pleasant or painful, important or trivial, you are giving it your full attention, easily said but harder to manage sometimes if you are on autopilot.
When you complete a meditation session you can feel exhilarated and almost like you’re walking on air. Some days you may feel a little emotional, as the realisation of thoughts or feelings you are having to blockages in your life. The different sessions are equally valuable, and you will monitor your progress with time and practice.
I hold mindfulness practice sessions walking on the beach, in a field or in a comfy chair.
